Although observational studies suggest that the four-component meningococcal serogroup B vaccine (4CMenB) might lower the risk of gonorrhoea, the randomised GoGoVax trial in Australia found that 4CMenB vaccination did not result in fewer Neisseria gonorrhoeae infections compared with placebo. The trial analysis included 587 adult men who have sex with men (MSM) who had a diagnosis of N gonorrhoeae infection or syphilis within the previous 18 months, received two doses of either the vaccine or placebo 3 months apart, and attended at least two follow-up visits.
